About
How to use the Geng Maak Thai dictionary and drills, how the content is made, and who runs the site.
About this site
Geng Maak is a Thai dictionary and drill site for English speakers. The name comes from เก่งมาก (gèng mâak, “great job!”), a Thai phrase of praise. You can look up the Thai you need for travel and daily life, learn how it works, and practice it, all in one place.
What you can do
- Words & Phrases: by theme, with audio, readings, and word breakdowns
- Script & Grammar: tones, reading Thai script, polite speech, numbers, time, and dates
- Multiple-Choice Drill and Flashcards: learn, then test yourself
- Write Thai Letters: trace the stroke order of all 44 consonants, then write them yourself
How the content is made and checked
Readings use a simple romanization, and you can switch to IPA (the International Phonetic Alphabet). The Thai on this site is machine-checked to confirm that spellings, readings, and tones follow the rules, then reviewed for natural meaning and usage. If you spot a mistake, please let us know.
Audio and your progress
Audio uses the text-to-speech feature of your browser or device, so voices can vary by device. Your drill scores, “Got it” cards, and search history are stored only on your device and are not sent to a server. For details, see the Privacy Policy.
